Harry Reid Airport in Las Vegas had a busy first half of 2024, serving 28.9 million passengers through June, a 2.6% increase from the same period last year. The figure puts the airport on a path to eclipse last year's record year, when it served 57.6 million flyers.
May was the second-busiest month in Harry Reid Airport's history with more than 5.2 million arrivals and departures, and June was the third-busiest month with just over 5 million passengers served, a 3.7% jump from June 2023. October 2023, with 5.47 million passengers, remains the busiest month ever recorded for the airport.
The number of international passengers through the first six months, 1.9 million, was up 20.4% from the same time in 2023.
More overseas service
Additional international options are coming to the airport soon.
Aer Lingus will fly direct from Dublin, Ireland, to Las Vegas, for the first time ever beginning Oct. 25.
"This direct, nonstop route to LAS is intended to spur more visitors from Ireland and other parts of Europe, while offering a seamless travel experience," said an airport spokesperson, who noted the airport had 52,000 visitors from Ireland last year.
Norse Atlantic will begin service from London's Gatwick Airport on Sept. 12.
Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris, which reported 26,894 passengers in June, up 11.5 percent from the same month in 2023, will introduce service from Tijuana on Oct. 29. "This comes at a time when Tijuana is expanding their service options by opening to 40 other Mexican cities, allowing for easier travel to those living in central and noncoastal areas of the country," the spokesperson noted.
Virgin Atlantic, up 14.9% from the first six months in 2023, reinstated nonstop flights from Manchester, England, in May.
