Brazil has postponed the requirement of entry visas for passport holders from the U.S., Australia and Canada to April 10, 2024.

This is the second postponement of the visa requirement. Brazil initially set the requirement for Oct. 1., then set Jan. 10 as the new deadline.

Brazil said it needs more time to complete implementation of its electronic visa system, plus the country does not want to interfere with high-season tourism, including Carnival celebrations in February and March.

Former Brazil president Jair Bolsonaro eliminated the visa requirement in 2019 to encourage more tourism, even though the U.S., Australia and Canada continued to require visas from Brazilian visitors.
