Discount carrier Canada Jetlines has ceased operations and will seek to restructure under Canada's creditor-protection rules.
"Every effort is being made to assist passengers at this time," the company said in a statement. "Passengers with existing bookings are advised to contact their credit card company to secure refunds for pre-booked travel."
The Toronto-based airline commenced operations in late 2022. It was operating a fleet of four Airbus A320s prior to its demise, according to the website Planespotters. Jetlines' U.S. destinations this month were Miami and Orlando. The carrier flew to Las Vegas through May, Cirium flight-schedule data shows.
In a statement, Canada JetLines said that it had pursued all available financing alternatives but had been unable to obtain the funds required to continue operations. The airline referred to the cessation as temporary.
Canada Jetlines is the second Canadian discounter to halt flying this year, following the closure of ultralow-cost carrier Lynx Air in February.
WestJet did away with its low-cost brand Swoop last October.
