Tanzania's Serengeti National Park, renowned for its wildlife migration, is experiencing a surge in luxury accommodation options with the recent opening of two properties and a third in development.
One Nature Mara River Lodge, situated in the northern Serengeti near the Kogatende Airstrip, opened its doors this month. It offers seven villas, including a two-bedroom presidential villa, with views of the Great Migration River Crossing. The lodge features contemporary African design with private heated pools, outdoor lounge areas and ecofriendly amenities like solar-powered air conditioners. Guests can partake in exclusive game drives, hot air balloon safaris, walking safaris and nature-based wellness experiences.
Rates start at $1,653 per night for a one-bedroom villa.
Singita Milele, a five-bedroom villa on Sasakwa Hill, boasts panoramic views of the 350,000-acre Grumeti Reserve and bespoke design inspired by the surrounding wildlife. The villa features individual suites, each with unique layouts and special features, along with shared spaces like a cinema room, fitness center and heated spa pools. Guests can enjoy private game drives, guided walks, wellness treatments and curated wine tastings. Rates start at $26,250 per night for up to 10 guests. TAASA Migration Camp, a mobile tented camp designed to follow the Great Migration, is slated to open in July 2025. The camp will feature 12 suites, including interconnecting options for families and groups, and will offer unlimited game drives, hot air balloon safaris, a lounge, bar tent, outdoor fire pit and souvenir shop. The camp will relocate throughout the year to the Kogatende, Ndutu and Musabi Plains regions, ensuring guests are always in proximity to the migrating herds.
