Work on a $60 million renovation at the 22-acre Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa wrapped up last month on the Big Island of Hawaii, according to an Outrigger Hotels & Resorts statement.
The overhaul included improvements in the resort's 511 guestrooms as well as upgrades to the property's 100,000-square-foot Kaleiopapa Convention Center and the addition of the Piko Coffee & Wine Bar, according to the July 17 release.
"Through meticulous design and a deep-rooted cultural narrative, we aspired to etch an enduring impression on our guests' hearts and minds, fostering a profound connection with Hawaii's rich tapestry of history and traditions," Geoff Pearson, general manager of the Outrigger Kona Resort, said in the statement.
Outrigger officials noted that guests can take part in nightly manta ray tours directly in front of the property onboard a 40-foot Hawaiian sailing canoe, an excursion that offers vacationers an introduction to the location's history and culture along with a chance to snorkel alongside mantas.
The property has also launched the Feast & Fire Luau running Monday and Thursday nights, according to resort officials.
