Royal Caribbean International said it has ordered a "lucky seventh" Oasis-class ship to be delivered in 2028, said CEO Michael Bayley.
In an announcement Thursday, Royal Caribbean Group said it entered into an agreement with French builder Chantiers de l'Atlantique for the ship. The order is contingent on financing, which Royal Caribbean expects to be completed later this year.
The order shows ongoing interest in Oasis-class ships despite the line's introduction of the Icon class last month with Icon of the Seas, currently the world's largest cruise ship. The second ship in the Icon class, Star of the Seas, is expected in summer 2025.
The line will introduce Royal Caribbean's sixth Oasis-class ship, Utopia of the Seas, in July. The first ship in the class, Oasis of the Seas, entered service in December 2009.
This is the eighth ship Royal Caribbean Group has on order. The group includes Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises, plus Royal is a 50% owner in a joint venture that operates TUI Cruises and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
