IHG Hotels & Resorts has made its foray into the Greek Islands with the opening of the InterContinental Crete.
Situated near the city of Agios Nikolaos, the coastal resort comprises 199 rooms, many featuring private plunge pools. The property's design and decor draws some inspiration from Greek mythology, with a sculpture representing a hybrid between the sphinx and a minotaur serving as a reception area centerpiece.
Culinary programming at the resort is helmed by Michelin-starred restaurateur Nikos Roussos, who serves as chef consultant for the resort's three Mediterranean-inspired restaurants: Zeus, Knossos and Minoan. All of the dining concepts showcase Crete-inspired cuisine and local ingredients, while the property's beverage program also puts an emphasis on regional offerings, featuring wines made from indigenous grapes.
