A new luxury resort is coming to Madagascar this September.
Located on the island of Sainte-Marie, just off Madagascar's northeastern coast, Voaara will initially debut with eight bungalows and one three-bedroom villa, as well as two dining outlets.
The resort, which is planning to open in several phases, will eventually offer a total of 45 accommodations and five food and beverage venues. A spa is slated to follow later in the year.
The property will showcase rustic materials and natural design, while its culinary program plans to highlight the island's local products, including seafood.
Voaara is the brainchild of serial entrepreneur and travel expert Philippe Kjellgren, who founded Kiwi Collection, a hotel and resort review and booking platform, in 2003. He is also founder of the SmartFlyer-affiliated travel advisory service PK's List.
Voaara's "quiet, barefoot luxury" concept draws its inspiration from some of Kjellgren's favorite hotels, which include The Brando in French Polynesia, Uxua Casa in Brazil and Parador La Huella in Uruguay, among others.
Rates at Voaara will start at about $1,090 per night. per night for two, inclusive of meals.
NOTE: This report was updated at noon on Aug. 5 with a new starting rate.
